Spooktacular Giveaway!

So I decided that I wanted to do a little contest over here on my blog and after thinking about what I’m going to do I have come up with this:

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. (Funny since I’m such a scaredy cat about Haunted Houses and horror movies.) I love the costumes and the candy. The pumpkins and the decorations. If you love it as well, leave me a comment with your favorite Halloween candy. On October 15th, I will put all the names in a hat and draw out the name of the winner. The winner will get a little trick-or-treat basket from me in time for the big candy fest on October 31st. (If you post anonymously, please be sure to leave me an email address to reach you at if you win.)

So what are you waiting for? Get to commenting! (And good luck!)

2. Animation Domination is back on FOX. I do love me some cartoons!
3. Flowers bought at Fresh & Easy Market.

4. Plans coming together for Leslie's visit in October.
5. My pasta/chicken salad came out delish!
I'm sending so much love and sympathy wishes to my cousin, Carma, after she had to put her horse down the other day. My cousins Carma and Joyce are my two equine loving cousins and I always loved hanging out with them growing up and talking horses. We were living in Turkey when I got the letter from Carma with pictures of this absolutely beautiful horse, Chaffie, that she had won in a contest. He lived a good, long life and I'm sad that he had to be put down, but he was loved and that is what matters the most.

Fun Contest!

My friend, Lesli, is having a contest over at Pretty Random Thoughts in celebration of Fall!! Be sure to go over and check it out and enter to win! Fall Giveaway.

(I had to borrow the picture she used as well because it is just so dang cute!!)

I'm going to follow her lead and do a contest over here on this blog as well, will put it up tomorrow. :)

61st Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards

Of course, I'm on the west coast so I'm missing the live red carpet, but looking at pics.
Sandra Oh is usually hit or miss with me, usually a miss. But she is looking glam tonight!

I am not so sure about the hair on Kaley Cuoco...she looks a little tired.

I am not sure what Julie Benz is on right now, but my Buffy the Vampire Slayer loving heart loves her anyway! The dress is odd, though.

Hello, David Boreanaz...he is looking rather hot tonight.

Alyson Hannigan is my most favorite so far.

I can't decide on Olivia Wilde's dress yet...Not overly fond of it.

What in the blue blazes?!?!?!? And who is Phoebe Price!?!?

What is on Leighton Meester's shoulders???

Christina Applegate is beautiful.

More to come...
I seem to only blog over here lately when I do my gratitude list for each day. And while that makes me happy to do, I need to get words out as well! But what to blog about...my job? Tales of Tyson and the mauling he gets by Molly? (I do have video I need to post.) What I'm reading/watching on TV/movies I've seen? Maybe some quotes that I have found particularly inspirational lately? Or a picture that speaks to me? Is there anything you want to know my thoughts on? (Within reason, of course.)

I'm just sitting over here in my room, watching some "Star Wars" marathon...waiting for the Primetime Emmys to come on tonight...

Oh, Oh, I could tell you that I reached 116,110 points in Bejeweled Blitz! Yep, I'm addicted. I need Blitz Rehab!!

He fought the brave fight against cancer...and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

MTV VMA's

The one day of the year that MTV remembers that they are MUSIC Television. And hypes videos that they don't show.

I watched most of it on You Tube because really I just didn't have the patience to sit up tonight and watch it.

Madonna's speech, the dancers doing Michael Jackson's dance tribute, and then Miss Jackson herself coming out and doing "Scream"...that was really the perfect way to kick the show off. (And I am actually watching that right now on MTV.)

Russel Brand is just not funny. I really don't know why they asked him to host the show again!

Kanye West is a d-bag! He loves the attention, good or bad. I thought Taylor Swift was going to cry when he interrupted her speech to say that it should have gone to Beyonce. (And I do have to hand it Beyonce for bringing Taylor out later in the show and giving her the chance to have her acceptance speech.)

Lady Gaga scares me. Her music is okay, but her live performances are just too freaky.

I do love me some Eminem so was happy to see him win hip hop video.

And I also like T.I. and Rhianna's "Live your life" song.

Britney won best pop video for "Womanizer", which is probably my fave song of hers.

And...Pink rocks!

That is about all I pulled from the show. I'll have to grab some of the fashion pics tomorrow and post them...
Gratitude Day 25/365

1. The ability to recognize the blessings in my life.
2. "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was on TNT. I have so much love for this trilogy.
3. A nice relaxing Sunday.
4. Farkle on Facebook...yes, I am hooked on another game!
5. MTV VMA's are on tonight.

Gratitude Day 23/365
(I should really call it things that made me happy, huh?)

1. The compassion to remember and the ability to pray for the ones that lost their lives eight years ago.
2. "All you need is love" by The Beatles, digitally remastered. Perhaps my fave song ever.
3. I'm finally reading "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne.
4. It is FRIDAY!!
5. Derek Jeter becoming the NY Yankee's all time hits leader with 2,722 tonight.

Never forget.

Eight years ago the day started out as any typical work day was starting at the time. Who knew that within an hour that everything was going to go so horribly wrong and the way we live our lives was going to change like it did. All day today people have been asking “Where were you when you heard of the plane crashing into The World Trade Center Tower?”

I was in my car, driving to work. I was listening to KISS FM, Kid & Rueben were on when they interrupted what segment was going on with the news of the plane crash. I remember thinking how horribly sad; never imagining it was an airline. By the time I pulled into the parking lot at work, the news had announced it was an airline that hit the Tower. By the time I clocked in and made my way up front to my desk and turned the radio on there were reports of the second airline…then the third…and the fourth. We listened in stunned horror at work all day to the news, alternating between the cruddy television reception in the back and the radio. I will never forget my boss showing how heartless he was when he demanded the TV and radio be shut off because “it is in New York, it doesn’t affect Arizona”. (Corporate stepped in and said that they not only wanted the employees to be allowed to listen but for the flag to be lowered to half mast when the boss refused to do that as well.)

I remember going home and watching the television for hours that night…and a few nights after that…of nothing but the horrific coverage. The eery silence when all flights were grounded. The concern…and ultimate relief…to find that my friend had not actually gone to her company meeting at the WTC that morning because of a sick son.

Eight years. It is still an image so vivid in my memory. I hope that you all took a moment today to remember those that lost their lives in the tragedy that happened that morning of September 11th, 2001. I hope you also take a moment to remember there are men and women to this day fighting for the freedom that we take for granted so often.

My favorite tribute so far that I have seen:

Gratitude Day 19/365

1. No work today!!! :)
2. Yes, as always, it is Sheldon Monday! And there have been commercials for the new season!
3. Tyson's "Oh crap" reaction to my brother's dog coming over for a while. (He fell off the bed in his shock.) Hey it was funny! So I'm thankful that Tyson made me laugh.
4. Allie's enthusiasm for all things Barbie!
5. Delicious quiche for breakfast.

And Labor Day Weekend ends. Boo!!! I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow!

Where is Fall when you need it?

I love scarves! I look forward to the seasons changing from sweltering Summer to mild Fall/Winter just for the fact that I can wear my scarves.

Of course, it might help if I lived somewhere that really required me to bundle up.

These are just the few that I have accumulated in the last year...(Other than the one draped over the hanger, my Aunt Faye made that one for me a couple of years ago and is the main stay of my scarves...the rest are in a box in my storage shed.)

I can't wait for the temperature to dip so I can wrap one around my neck.

List of Random things...

A friend posted this list...I loved it so I borrowed it!

1. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

4. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

5. The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.

6. Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the "people you may know" feature on facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?

7. Do you remember when you were a kid; playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in the world did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or faq's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are
soft.

8. There is a great need for a sarcasm font.

9. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what was going on when I first saw it.

10. I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the
only one who really, really gets it.

11. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

12. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

13. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text

14. Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say"

15. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

16. Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".

17. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

18. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

19. Everytime I have to spell a word over the phone using 'as in' examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss's last name to an attorney and said "Yes that's G as in...(10 second lapse)..ummm...Goonies"

20. What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

21. While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.

22. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

23. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.

24. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

25. Bad decisions make good stories.

26. Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB-gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if I do!

27. Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?

28. Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I'm from, this shouldn't be a problem....

29. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

30. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

31. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

32. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.

33. I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There's so much pressure. 'I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren't watching this. It's only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?'

34. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

35. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

36. I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my itunes.

37. Why is a school zone 40kph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles...

38. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

39. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

40. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

41. The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There's nothing like being made to feel like a fat b@stard before dinner.

42. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...

43. I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.

44. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
